The chosen are genderless

Organized Christianity is not God’s intention…A quote from Russel Brand:

“Institutionalized religion is a sort of panacea to prevent us from becoming the radical revolutionists our Lord wants us to be”

I heard this recently and it was so succinctly stated that I had to write it down and ponder on it a bit. Lets consider just the subservient role many religious institutions place on women

For this case, I’ll use one single verse that seemingly makes women of lesser value.

“Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law.” (1Co 14:34)

Translation plays such a major role in the perception of God’s Word… Strongs lists “women” in this verse as G1135   (Strong)

γυνή

gunē

goo-nay'

Probably from the base of G1096; a woman; specifically a wife: - wife, woman.

This definition will cause me to check the root word, and see if there is a possibility that the incorrect variation was used, or even if English isn’t sufficient enough to portray the full depth of meaning.

G1096   (Strong)

γίνομαι

ginomai

ghin'-om-ahee

A prolonged and middle form of a primary verb; to cause to be (“gen” -erate), that is, (reflexively) to become (come into being), used with great latitude (literally, figuratively, intensively, etc.): - arise be assembled, be (come, -fall, -have self), be brought (to pass), (be) come (to pass), continue, be divided, be done, draw, be ended, fall, be finished, follow, be found, be fulfilled, + God forbid, grow, happen, have, be kept, be made, be married, be ordained to be, partake, pass, be performed, be published, require, seem, be showed, X soon as it was, sound, be taken, be turned, use, wax, will, would, be wrought.

To cause to be….be kept….be taken

So it does portray subservient, but not necessarily gender. So, imagine if the verse was more correctly translated to, let your apprentices be silent in churches.

Considering God refers to His Church as His bride, doesn’t that make all of us… wives?

Ah   That makes sense   This word G1135 has nothing to do with gender and everything to do with those that are unskillful in the word for righteousness, as said in Hebrews 5

“For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins:” (Heb 5:1)

“Men” in this verse is

G444   (Strong)

ἄνθρωπος

anthrōpos

anth'-ro-pos

From G435 and ὤψ ōps (the countenance; from G3700); manfaced, that is, a human being: - certain, man.

Isn’t that something…. Again, the original translation can be seen to be genderless.
A human being…
